Liverpool
Liverpool is a major city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, northwest England, situated on the eastern bank of the River Mersey estuary approximately 35 miles west of Manchester. The city grew to prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries as one of the world's leading ports, particularly in the transatlantic trade, and its waterfront buildings including the Royal Liver Building and the Albert Dock are UNESCO World Heritage listed. Liverpool is also internationally renowned as the birthplace of the Beatles and maintains a strong cultural and musical identity.
