Durham

Durham is a cathedral city in County Durham, northeast England, situated on a prominent sandstone peninsula almost completely encircled by the River Wear. The city is dominated by Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle, which together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site and represent outstanding examples of Norman architecture. Durham is also home to Durham University, one of England's oldest universities, and serves as the county town and administrative centre for County Durham.
