Dundee

Dundee, Scotland

Dundee is Scotland's fourth-largest city, situated on the northern shore of the Firth of Tay in eastern Scotland, where the broad estuary narrows before the river heads inland. The city rose to prominence in the 19th century through its jute processing industry, which along with jam and journalism gave rise to its famous alliterative description of the three Js. Dundee has undergone significant regeneration in recent decades, anchored by the waterfront V&A Dundee museum of design, which opened in 2018 and marked a major cultural milestone for the city. The city is also known as a centre of the computer games industry and scientific research, with two universities and a tradition of biomedical innovation.
