Hampshire
Hampshire is a county on the southern coast of England, bordered by Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey, and West Sussex, with a lengthy coastline on the Solent and the English Channel. The county contains two national parks: the New Forest, an ancient royal hunting ground of heathland and ancient woodland, and the South Downs. The port city of Southampton has been one of England's principal maritime gateways for centuries, while Portsmouth is home to the historic naval dockyard and HMS Victory. Winchester, the ancient capital of Wessex and England, serves as the county town.
