Dorchester
Dorchester is the county town of Dorset, England, with a history dating back to Roman times and strong literary associations with novelist Thomas Hardy, who based his fictional 'Casterbridge' on the town. It features Georgian and Victorian architecture, the remains of a Roman town wall, and the nearby Iron Age hillfort of Maiden Castle. Its well-preserved historic streets have made it a popular setting for period dramas. The town also hosted the Old Crown Court, site of the Tolpuddle Martyrs' trial.
