Kingsway Tunnel
The Kingsway Tunnel is a road tunnel beneath the River Mersey in northwest England, connecting Liverpool to Wallasey in Merseyside. Opened in 1971, it is the second of the two Mersey road tunnels, complementing the older Queensway Tunnel which links Liverpool to Birkenhead. At approximately 2.1 kilometres in length, it carries a significant volume of cross-river traffic and is an important part of the transport infrastructure of the Liverpool city region.
