Dunure Harbour

Dunure Harbour

Dunure Harbour, Dunure, Ayrshire & Arran, Scotland

Dunure Harbour is a historic harbour located in the small fishing village of Dunure, on the Firth of Clyde coast in South Ayrshire, Scotland, approximately five miles from Ayr. Built in 1811, it consists of a small rectangular basin formed by two straight rubble piers with a rubble breakwater and a distinctive circular stone lighthouse tower at the end of the longer pier. Once a thriving hub during the height of the Clyde herring fishery, the harbour today is home to a mix of leisure boats and smaller fishing vessels.
