BBC Television Centre

BBC Television Centre, London, England

BBC Television Centre is a large complex in White City, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, which served as the main production hub of BBC Television from its opening in 1960 until 2013. The main building, designed by architect Graham Dawbarn in a distinctive circular form around a central courtyard, was purpose-built for television production and became one of the most recognisable buildings associated with British broadcasting. At its peak the centre housed numerous studios producing some of the most famous programmes in British television history, from Doctor Who to Top of the Pops and Blue Peter. Following the BBC's partial relocation to Salford, much of the building was redeveloped as a mixed-use complex with offices, apartments, a hotel, and a cinema, while the BBC retained some studios on site.
