Saint Mary and Saint Finnan Church
The Church of Saint Mary and Saint Finnan is a Roman Catholic church located in Glenfinnan in the Scottish Highlands. Built in 1873 to a design by Edward Welby Pugin, it serves the local Catholic community in this historically strongly Catholic area of the western Highlands. The church features a distinctive spire that is visible from the road along the shore of Loch Shiel and is an important local landmark. The area around Glenfinnan has maintained a strong Catholic tradition since the time of the Jacobite risings, when many Highland clans supported the Stuart cause.
