Redmire is a small village in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, situated on the northern side of the dale between the villages of Castle Bolton and Carperby. The village is best known as the western terminus of the Wensleydale Railway, a heritage railway that runs along the length of the dale. Redmire station was historically the point from which limestone quarried at Redmire Quarry was transported by rail. The surrounding area provides access to the ruins of Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1568.
