Chiltern Hills

Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire, England

The Chiltern Hills are a range of chalk hills in south-central England, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. They extend for approximately 75 miles in a north-east to south-west arc through Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire. The landscape is characterised by beech woodlands, open downland, deep valleys, and picturesque villages of brick and flint. The hills form part of the North Wessex Downs escarpment and are crossed by several ancient trackways including the Ridgeway.
