RAF Upper Heyford
RAF Upper Heyford was a Royal Air Force and later United States Air Force base located near the village of Upper Heyford in Oxfordshire, approximately twelve miles north of Oxford. The airfield was established in 1916 and served as a USAF base from 1950 until its closure in 1994, at which point it was the last USAF base to close in the United Kingdom. The site has since been redeveloped as Heyford Park, a mixed residential and commercial community. The former airfield and some Cold War era structures remain as part of the redevelopment.
