Tower Hill is an area in the City of London adjacent to the Tower of London, situated at the eastern edge of the City on the north bank of the Thames. The area takes its name from the hill on which public executions were traditionally carried out, with many notable figures being executed there between the 14th and 18th centuries. Tower Hill Underground station serves the area on the Circle and District lines, and the area is a major tourist destination due to its proximity to the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the riverside walk. The area also contains Trinity Square Gardens with a memorial to merchant mariners.
