Shandy Hall
Shandy Hall is a historic house in the village of Coxwold in North Yorkshire, approximately eighteen miles north of York in the Howardian Hills. It was the home of the novelist Laurence Sterne, who lived there from 1760 until his death in 1768 and wrote the later volumes of The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman in the house. The building dates from the 15th century with later additions and is now managed by the Laurence Sterne Trust as a museum dedicated to the author, housing an extensive library of rare editions of Sterne's works. It is a Grade I listed building and a place of literary pilgrimage.
