Bere Regis is a village and civil parish in Dorset, England, situated in the Bere Stream valley approximately twelve miles north-west of Bournemouth. The village has a notable parish church of St John the Baptist, which contains an outstanding Tudor hammerbeam roof and is associated with the Turberville family, the real-life inspiration for Thomas Hardy's d'Urbervilles in Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Hardy used the village and its surrounding area extensively in his Wessex novels under the name Kingsbere. The village lies within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
