Jack And Jill Windmills

Jack And Jill Windmills, Clayton, West Sussex, England

The Jack and Jill Windmills are a pair of historic windmills standing on the South Downs ridge above the village of Clayton in West Sussex. Jill is a white post mill dating from around 1821 that was moved to the site in 1852 and is open to visitors; Jack is a black tower mill built in 1866 and is privately owned. The two mills are a prominent local landmark visible for many miles across the Sussex Weald. They stand close to the Clayton railway tunnels and the Ditchling Beacon, a popular viewpoint on the South Downs Way.
