Arundel is a historic market town in West Sussex, England, situated in the valley of the River Arun at the foot of the South Downs. The town is dominated by Arundel Castle, the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Norfolk, which has stood in various forms since the 11th century and remains one of England's finest medieval fortresses. Arundel Cathedral, a Roman Catholic cathedral in the French Gothic style, stands prominently on the hilltop above the town. The town is a popular tourist destination and is known for its antique shops, independent retailers, and annual Arundel Festival.
