Northern Quarter
The Northern Quarter is a creative and independent cultural district in the northeast of Manchester city centre, England, broadly bounded by Market Street to the south, Piccadilly to the east, and the Arndale Centre to the west. The area is characterised by Victorian warehouse and commercial buildings that have been converted into independent shops, bars, cafes, recording studios, and creative businesses. It has been a centre for Manchester's music and arts scene since the 1980s and 1990s. Afflecks, a large indoor market of independent traders, is one of its most distinctive landmarks.
