Wimbledon

Wimbledon is a district in the London Borough of Merton in southwest London, known internationally as the home of the Wimbledon Championships, the oldest tennis grand slam tournament in the world. The area encompasses both a town centre on the ridge and the lower village area near Wimbledon Common, one of the largest areas of common land in London at over 460 hectares. Wimbledon Park and Wimbledon Common provide significant areas of open space within an otherwise densely suburban district. The area has good transport links including London Underground services on the District line.
