RAF Uxbridge
RAF Uxbridge is a former Royal Air Force station in Uxbridge, in the London Borough of Hillingdon, west London. It is historically significant as the location of the No. 11 Group Operations Room, from which the air defence of southeast England was controlled during the Battle of Britain in 1940, and which was visited by Winston Churchill in August 1940, prompting his famous remark that there were no more reserves. The station closed as an active RAF base in 2010 and the site has been redeveloped for housing, though the historic Battle of Britain Bunker has been preserved as a museum. The site was previously home to the RAF Uxbridge station headquarters.
