South Oxhey

South Oxhey, Hertfordshire, England

South Oxhey is a large post-war council housing estate in the Three Rivers district of Hertfordshire, England, situated immediately south of Watford on the border with the London Borough of Harrow. The estate was built by the London County Council in the late 1940s and early 1950s to rehouse families from bombed and overcrowded areas of London, particularly Paddington. It was one of the first large-scale out-of-county housing estates built by the LCC and was designed with a local shopping centre and community facilities. The estate has a predominantly residential character and is served by Carpenders Park railway station.
