Sligo
Sligo is a county on the northwest Atlantic coast of Ireland in the province of Connacht, flanked by the Ben Bulben plateau to the north and the Ox Mountains to the south. Sligo town, the county town, sits at the mouth of the Garavogue River where it flows into Sligo Bay and is the main commercial centre for the northwest of Ireland. The county has strong associations with the poet W.B. Yeats, who drew extensively on its landscape for his work. Strandhill and Rosses Point are among its notable coastal areas.
