Laois

Laois, Republic of Ireland

Laois is an inland county in the midlands of Ireland in the province of Leinster, with no coastline or major navigable river. The Slieve Bloom Mountains rise along its northwest border with Offaly and provide the most significant upland terrain in an otherwise predominantly flat and boggy midland county. Portlaoise is the county town and largest settlement. Laois is one of the least visited counties in Ireland, characterised largely by farmland and raised bogland.
