Kildare

Kildare, Republic of Ireland

Kildare is an inland county in the east of Ireland in the province of Leinster, bordering County Dublin to the northeast. It is known for its flat, fertile plains, particularly the Curragh, a vast expanse of open grassland that is the heartland of the Irish thoroughbred horse racing industry. The River Liffey rises in the Wicklow Mountains and flows through the county before continuing to Dublin. Naas is the county town and largest settlement.
