West Sands Beach
West Sands Beach is a large, sweeping beach located on the North Sea coast immediately north of the historic town of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland. The beach stretches for approximately two miles and is backed by the Old Course at St. Andrews, one of the world's most famous golf links courses, and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. West Sands achieved global recognition as the filming location for the opening running sequence of the 1981 Academy Award-winning film Chariots of Fire.
