Waddesdon Manor
Waddesdon Manor is a grand country house in the village of Waddesdon in Buckinghamshire, approximately six miles northwest of Aylesbury, built between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild of the prominent Rothschild banking family. The house was designed by the French architect Gabriel-Hippolyte Destailleur in the style of a French Renaissance château and contains one of the finest collections of French decorative arts in the world, as well as important Old Master paintings. The manor and its extensive gardens are now owned and managed by the National Trust and are among the most visited heritage properties in the United Kingdom.
