The Magdala Tavern
The Magdala Tavern is a Victorian public house located on South Hill Park in the South Hampstead and Belsize Park area of north London, near Hampstead Heath. The pub became notorious as the site where Ruth Ellis shot dead her lover David Blakely in 1955, the last act for which a woman was hanged in the United Kingdom. The building retains its Victorian character and exterior, and remains a standing fixture in the residential neighbourhood below Hampstead Heath.
