Royal Avenue

Royal Avenue, Kensington, London, England

Royal Avenue is a tree-lined residential street in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, running between King's Road in Chelsea and Burton Court near Chelsea Barracks. It was laid out in the late 17th century as part of a planned route connecting the Royal Hospital Chelsea to Kensington Palace, though the avenue was never extended the full distance. The street is flanked by attractive late 17th and early 18th-century terraced houses and is associated with the fictional James Bond, who Ian Fleming placed as a resident of the avenue in the original novels. The Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the Chelsea Pensioners, is situated at the southern end.
