Middle Temple

Middle Temple, London, England

The Middle Temple is one of the four Inns of Court in London, located in the Temple area between the Strand and the Embankment, within the City of London. The Inn has been associated with the legal profession since the 14th century and its buildings include the medieval Temple Church, which is shared with the Inner Temple, and the Elizabethan Middle Temple Hall, completed in 1573 and said to have been the venue for the first performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. The gardens of the Temple are peaceful grounds running down to the Thames Embankment. The Inn is responsible for calling barristers to the Bar in England and Wales.
