Hoxton Square

Hoxton Square

Hoxton Square, Hackney, London, England

Hoxton Square is a public garden square located in Hoxton, in the London Borough of Hackney, in the inner east London area. It is one of the oldest squares in London, laid out in the 1680s, and is surrounded by Georgian and Victorian buildings, many of which have been converted into bars, galleries, and creative industry offices. The square became a centre of the London contemporary art scene during the 1990s and 2000s, associated with the Young British Artists movement. It remains a lively social hub and is close to the broader Shoreditch and Old Street technology and arts district.
