East Coker Church
East Coker is a village in Somerset, approximately two miles south of Yeovil, and its Church of St Michael is a medieval parish church that holds a particular literary significance. The village is the ancestral home of the Eliot family, ancestors of the American-born poet T.S. Eliot, who named one of his Four Quartets after the village. T.S. Eliot's ashes are interred in the church, fulfilling his own wishes as expressed in the lines of the poem. The church itself dates from the fifteenth century and is built of local Ham stone.
