Donaldson’s School for the Deaf, Henderson Row
Donaldson's School for the Deaf, known formally as Donaldson's College, was a school for deaf children located on Henderson Row in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, Scotland. The building was designed by William Henry Playfair and completed in 1851 in a spectacular Tudor Gothic style, and was described by Queen Victoria as the most beautiful building she had ever seen. The school relocated to new premises in Linlithgow in 2008, and the imposing Victorian building was subsequently converted into residential apartments. The building is a Category A listed structure and a landmark in the north of Edinburgh.
