Bertorelli’s restaurant, Charlotte Street
Bertorelli's was a well-known Italian restaurant that operated for many decades on Charlotte Street in the Fitzrovia area of central London. Charlotte Street has long been associated with the restaurant trade and is situated in the borough of Camden, running parallel to Tottenham Court Road. The street and its surrounding neighbourhood of Fitzrovia developed its cosmopolitan character partly due to the large number of European immigrants who settled in the area in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Bertorelli's became an established part of the cultural and social life of literary and media figures associated with the area.
