Barnbougle Castle

Barnbougle Castle

Barnbougle Castle, Cramond, Edinburgh, Scotland

Barnbougle Castle is a small Scottish baronial tower house situated on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth at Cramond, to the west of Edinburgh. The original medieval tower was largely rebuilt in 1881 in a romantic baronial style for the fifth Earl of Rosebery, who later became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The castle sits within the grounds of the Dalmeny Estate, the Scottish seat of the Earls of Rosebery, and overlooks the broad estuary of the Firth of Forth. It is a private residence and is not generally open to the public.
