Aydon Castle

Aydon Castle is a fortified medieval manor house situated near the village of Corbridge in Northumberland, England. Built at the end of the thirteenth century, it is one of the finest and best-preserved examples of a fortified manor house in the country, having escaped significant later alteration. The castle consists of a series of stone ranges arranged around two courtyards, enclosed by a defensive wall with a gatehouse. It is now in the care of English Heritage and is open to the public.
