Weymouth
Weymouth is a seaside town and port in Dorset, England, situated on a broad natural harbour at the mouth of the River Wey on the English Channel coast, approximately 8 miles south of Dorchester. The town has a long history as a seaside resort and is credited as one of the first resorts to be popularised by royalty, when King George III began bathing there in 1789, and its Georgian seafront of terraced houses overlooking the sandy beach is well preserved. Weymouth Harbour connects the town to the adjacent peninsula of Portland and was used as the sailing venue for the 2012 London Olympics.
