Teignmouth

Teignmouth, Devon, England

Teignmouth is a seaside town in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England, situated at the mouth of the River Teign where it meets the sea, approximately 14 miles south of Exeter. The town has a long sandy beach on the English Channel side and a working harbour and docks on the Teign estuary, through which ball clay mined on Dartmoor has historically been exported. Teignmouth is connected to the national rail network by the Great Western Main Line, which runs dramatically along the seafront on a narrow ledge between the beach and the red sandstone cliffs, and was engineered by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
